Accuracy of Information

Government offices change phone numbers, hours, addresses, fees, and procedures without much notice. We do our best to keep our pages current, but we cannot guarantee that every detail on this site is correct at any given moment. Before you visit a courthouse or send a payment, call the office directly to confirm.

Not Legal Advice

Nothing on this site is legal advice. We point you to resources and explain how things generally work in Bristol County, but a website cannot replace a licensed attorney.

Third-Party Search Tools

Some pages on this site include search boxes powered by third-party companies. We do not control what those tools return, how they price their services, or how they handle data you submit.

Outbound Links

We link to court portals, sheriff's office sites, clerk's office sites, state agencies, and other resources. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of any external site.

No Records on This Site

This site does not host any court records, jail rosters, warrant data, marriage records, divorce records, or vital records. We point you to the offices that do hold those records. To get an actual document from a Bristol County court, you have to request it from the clerk, register, or recorder office where the case was filed, as the Massachusetts Trial Court directs.

Public Records Law and Court Records

Massachusetts treats court records and general agency records under different rules. Agency and town records fall under the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c. 66, § 10, with exemptions in M.G.L. c. 4, § 7. Court records follow the Trial Court's own Uniform Rules on Public Access to Court Records. This site explains both frameworks for Bristol County users, but the official rules and decisions are made by the Commonwealth's courts and agencies, not by us.
